On this day in history, June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, TX to inform slaves that they were free. Today, in some regards we are still fighting for freedom and we ask: What does freedom mean to you?
The design for the I AM Freedom tee incorporates street art and uses vibrant African-inspired colors in recognition of African-American origins. The word freedom is repeated on the shirt in both English and Swahili (a language used primarily in West Africa) to highlight African and American roots.
